Kailua

Kailua real estate is some of the best on earth, if for no other reason than Kailua is one of the most beautiful places on earth. Situated on Kailua Bay, Kailua is not only a great place to live, but a favorite vacation spot for many and a great place to buy Kailua real estate. Kailua has a small-town feel, with its famed white-sand beaches and turquoise waters. Located just 15 miles and 30 minutes from downtown Honolulu, many have said that as they leave Honolulu and enter the Kailua area through the Pali Tunnel, they immediately feel a sense of peacefulness and relaxation. Perhaps, it is the beautiful views, but it also could be the friendly and laid-back people who live in Windward Oahu. Kailua offers the perfect suburban lifestyle, with all the conveniences, to over 51,000 people.

Kailua real estate includes the upscale beachfront areas of Lanikai, Beachside, Kawailoa, and Kaimalino and many lake and canalfront homes, as well.  There are also hillside view homes, such as in the Hillcrest neighborhood in Kailua and many residents of Kailua, Oahu also enjoy spectacular views of the Koolau Mountain Range. There are a variety of Kailua homes and Kailua condos to choose from as well in the downtown Kailua area, including the new construction by D.R. Horton at Ka Malanai. Kailua real estate has done well over the years and the Kailua real estate sales tend to stay relatively stable, even in a downturn.

Kailua has a small downtown district with a few dozen restaurants, several grocery stores, a Macy’s, Pier One, banks, drug stores, a movie theatre, medical offices, boutiques and other services. A new Whole Foods has just gone in and Target is on the way. Castle Hospital is nearby. There are both public and private schools. Kaneohe Marine Corps Base is nearby. One of the reasons the Kailua real estate market is strong, is the availability and convenience of all these amenities.

Kailua Bay is where the sport of windsurfing first took off in the US, and this area is great for windsurfing, as well as kitesurfing, kayaking and paddling. There are also several options for golf courses, and tennis and country clubs in Kailua and the Kailua area. People who buy Kailua real estate tend to be active, health-conscious people who appreciate the many recreational opportunities there are in Kailua. There are no hotels in Kailua, but short term visitors do find plenty of beach rentals and a few bed & breakfasts in the area.
